Monitoring and Documentation Workshop
June 08, 2011
With the support of GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft fuer Internationale Zusammenarbeit), WHR conducted a five-day Monitoring and Documentation Workshop at the Bhaktapur Guesthouse. The workshop was held from 12th to 16th May, 2011 in which altogether 23 participants including Regional Chairpersons and Regional Officers, board and staff members of the central office participated.
Facilitated by Junior Professional, Barbara Gerbautz, the participants were provided with inputs on the purpose of monitoring, the development of questionnaires and questions, monitoring of the activities and the instrument of "Focus Group Discussions (FGD)".
Focusing on the ‘Outcome Oriented Monitoring Plan 2009-2014’, indicators were filtered out which were important for the creation of a ‘Monitoring Form’ as well as for guiding questions for FGDs. The ‘Monitoring Form’ was established to find out the change in single women’s lives since they joined WHR single women group and to monitor the activities of the groups.
The FGDs shall provide a qualitative insight into how society’s opinion and behavior towards single women changed. After the creation of these two instruments, monitoring categories for the ‘Outcome Oriented Annual Work and Budget Plan’ were developed which will be used from July 2011 onwards.
The previously developed ‘Baseline Questionnaire’ was explained, and an input regarding how to conduct interviews was given as well as group work on interview practice took place. A questionnaire chain was developed to define the roles and responsibilities of each member of WHR regarding these monitoring & documentation instruments. The participants were prepared for the ‘Regional Monitoring & Documentation Workshops’ taking place in June 2011.
Regarding Knowledge Management, all participants filled out the previously, as a follow-up of the ‘Knowledge Management Workshop’ conducted in March, developed ‘Strength & Skill Analysis’ to analyze the expertise, skills and training needs of WHR staff and board members.
Finally an ‘Annual Activity Cycle for the Regional Offices regarding Monitoring & Documentation’ was established focusing again on the activities and respective indicators of the ‘Outcome Oriented Monitoring Plan 2009-2014’.
