Interaction Program on Single Women Issues in Media

With the support of European Union and in coordination with Sancharika Samuha Nepal, Women for Human Rights, single women group organized an Interaction Program on Single Women Issues in Media. The program was organized at Chhahari Services, Gairhidhara on 8th August, 2011.
The major objective of the program was to make the media personnel aware on the situation and plights of single women of Nepal and how WHR has been working to address their rights both at National and International level. Founder President of WHR, Lily Thapa highlighted on the situation of widows of Nepal and discriminatory practices prevalent in Nepalese society against the single women.
Similarly, a paper presentation was made by Nirmala Sharma, Vice President of Sancharika Samuha Nepal where she addressed the situation of single women of Nepal and single women issues in media.
During the program, President of Sancharika Samuha, Babita Basnet and the media personnel from various media expressed their views and queries in relation to single women.
WHR would like to express sincere gratitude to European Union for the support, Sancharika Samuha for the coordination in organizing the program and all the participants from various media for their support and valuable inputs.
