  Awareness on Widows' Allowance through Poster and PSA

  After continuous lobby and advocacy with the government, Nepalese Government allocated budget for the social security allowance to all the single women regardless of age in the 2011/012 National Policy and Programme. Earlier the single women of above 60 years only received the widows' allowance provided by the Nepal Government.

  In this regard, in September, 2011, with the support of United Nations Democracy Fund, WHR published posters in order to raise awareness on the procedure in getting widows' allowance. The posters have been disseminated in all 75 districts of Nepal. The posters have been developed in Nepali and Maithali languages.
   
  Similarly, to raise awareness on the issue, in September, 2011, the Public Service Announcement (PSA commonly known as Radio Jingle) has been produced and is being broadcasted through Radio Sagarmatha 102.4 MHz everyday at 7:15 AM in the morning, 9:15 PM in the evening and during 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm
